  • The critically endangered Small Tooth Sawfish, Pristis pectinata, gather offshore the Florida coastline on deep, silty reefs during winter. This species' population has declined by more than 95% due to the destruction and alternation of coastal habitats such as mangroves and the use of nets, which easily trap these giant fish. Historically ranging in the USA from the Carolinas to Texas, the species exists only in Florida nowadays, where it's protected and considered stable.
